Effess plays black metal inspired by the depressing, bleak, cold, ignorant town of Potenza.
Themes are
emptiness and ruins in the everyday life, the void of the human condition, the wrongdoings of the church, but also the local rituals and traditions, such as the ancient game of "morra". All the lyrics are written in the local dialect and a little Italian.
